About Fenton

Founded in 1905 by brothers Frank L. and John W. Fenton, the Fenton Art Glass Company ranks among the world’s foremost producers of handmade art glass.

Fenton was the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States, and renowned for innovative glass colors as well as hand-painted decorations on pressed and blown glassware.

In 2005, the Fenton Art Glass Company proudly celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of American glassmaking tradition.

However, traditional glass production at the original factory in Williamstown, West Virginia, came to an end in July 2011.

Today, the Fenton Gift Shop continues to honor that legacy at its new location in Boaz, West Virginia, just a few miles from the historic factory site.

Fenton Art Glass ceased traditional glass production at its Williamstown factory in 2011 and transitioned to creating handcrafted art glass beads,

while preserving its signature colors, techniques, and hand-decorated artistry. In 2017, the Williamstown property was sold to Wood County Schools.

The Fenton Gift Shop remains open at a nearby location just minutes from the original factory location.
Fenton glass is still handcrafted in the USA using original Fenton Art Glass moulds at a glass factory in Ohio. Once completed, these American-made pieces are returned to the Fenton Gift Shop.

Three talented Fenton Art Glass designers; Kim Barley, Michelle Kibbe, and Robin Spindler, continue to create and hand-paint beautiful limited editions and one-of-a-kind designs.
