Fenton Art Glass Circumthread Vase designed by Dave Fetty, which was a limited edition piece from the 2007 Connoisseur Collection.

This stunning and unusual Fenton Art Glass vase is hand crafted by Dave Fetty, in collaboration with Frank Workman. Both men worked at Fenton Glass until the company closed in 2011. From the 2007 Connoisseur Collection of Limited Edition art glass, this "Circumthread" vase was introduced in Summer 2007 and retired in September 2007. This is true art glass because of the amount of work involved to produce it. Each vase in this edition is a one-of-a-kind; the colors will vary from vase to vase.

The inside of this vase is black glass and the outside is a mix of orange and gold, with black threads going all around the vase. To make the vase, black glass is rolled in orange frit (which is somewhat like powdered glass), then the glass glob is mouth blown into a vase. When the vase has cooled, thin cords of black glass are carefully threaded around the vase. The vase is then iridized to give it more sparkle and a gleaming finish.

Each vase is stamped on the bottom with Dave Fetty's special mark, and is hand numbered with the edition. As a limited edition, there were only 750 vases made; this one is #284 of the edition. Approximately 9.5 inches high
